Peanut Butter Fights Hunger
#PeanutButterChallenge runs through October
Donations are encouraged year round
This annual jar collection for local food pantries is hosted by UF/IFAS Extension and Florida A&M University (FAMU) Cooperative Extension. Launched in the Florida Panhandle counties in 2012, it is again spreading statewide this year. Donate unopened, unexpired jars of peanut butter. Collections are tallied and distributed to local food pantries and food banks to address food insecurity, raise awareness of peanuts grown in Florida and bring communities together.
Why peanut butter? Well, it’s nutrient dense which means it packs a lot of nutrients for the amount of calories. It’s shelf stable, so it will hold in a pantry or cupboard. And, of course, it’s loved by many (though, the debate over crunchy versus creamy rolls on).
Your donation doesn’t just fill a jar; it spreads hope and sticks to our mission of fighting hunger. Every jar of peanut butter you donate can help us butter up the lives of those in need, making their day a little less nutty and a lot more nutritious.
